What’s your minimum age requirement?
We are now offering a special class just for 7 to 10 year olds!
In our regular classes, the minimum age is 10 years old.
How long does it take to get my black belt?
Every student is different, but depending on age, competency and dedication, usually between 3 and 5 years.
Will you recognise my previous rank from another club?
Yes, generally. We will assess you after your first lesson to check your rank from your previous club is about the same standard as ours.
Is it safe for me/my child?
Any martial art carries some degree of risk, but we make every effort to keep you/your child as safe as possible. We introduce sparring gradually at a pace you feel comfortable with. Generally, we see worse injuries occur in sports like football, hockey, and even netball.
Do I need a uniform right away?
No, you can train with us in regular sports clothes for a few weeks until you’re sure you want to continue. After that, you can either supply your own uniform, or purchase one through us for just $30.
Do I need any other equipment?
Not right away. However, a mouth guard is compulsory for sparring (you can buy a basic one from us for just $5). We also recommend and sell gloves ($40) but they are not compulsory. Shin guards and martial arts shoes are also optional.
